Chapter 2: The Savior

You woke up feeling strangely comfortable. You cracked your eyes open and a blinding light hit your pupils. You squirmed away from the light and turned over. Your eyes shot open as you realized something; the night before you were in so much pain that you couldn’t move, and that you weren’t feeling much pain at all when you woke. You quickly sat up, groaning a little at the lingering pain. You checked yourself over and found that you were covered in gauze, a couple of casts, and cream that you assumed was some kind of numbing assistant. You also realized that whoever did this to you had the decency to dress you in underwear and a bra when they finished patching you up. Your gaze turned to your bedside table, a small basket of gauze and other medical supplies sat upon it with a note and a beautiful blue rose. You quickly hid the basket under your bed for fear that your father would take it, and then you read the note.

 “Dear (y/n),
I’m sure you will think me a criminal or killer, which in fact, I am, but for you, I do not act that way. I have watched you for months, watching your torture and your pain. I sense you believe you are alone in this sense, but you are not. There are many of us who have watched over you, some more than others. We wish to help you any way we can. We are tired of standing aside and watching the one who we know can understand our pain, be beaten and broken. For now, I have patched you up and cleaned your wounds. I set your broken bones and hopefully with this, given you hope. We will understand any hesitation towards us, for we are not your normal humans, nor are all of us human. But keep in mind, we are not here to harm you, we wish to save you from your prison, even if that means killing the ones who keep you there. Two of us will come tonight, me and two others who act as one. If you wish to come with us, you will leave behind the life you have now for a better one. A relatively safe one. You will not be harmed daily, if at all. You will not be beaten, you will not be forced, you will be able to gain your dignity and pride. You will be able to be yourself. You will have choices. Think about this. You could leave this all behind.
Sincerely, Your Healer and Friend ”

You folded up the letter and set it beneath your pillow, smiling a bit. You weren’t alone, all this time, you weren’t alone. You cried to yourself, a smile plastered across your face. You knew you woke up before everyone else in the house. You knew you had hours before they woke. You quickly and quietly grabbed your bookbag, shoving in clothes and the medical supplies. You grabbed the one sentimental item you owned, a beaten up and sewn up stuffed animal bunny. You had cherished it as a child and it helped you through the hard times. It was what you held onto after the first time your father raped you when you were four. It was there through the beatings that your brother acted on you. Every time he ripped it apart, you hand sewed it back together. You nestled it in the bag, putting other small necessities in along with it before quietly zipping it up and walking over to your window. You carefully opened it, making sure it didn’t so much as squeak. Once it was open, you climbed out and up onto your roof, using your foot to close it behind you. You sat on the middle of the roof, your house being fairly big and the roof being flat, you knew they would be unable to see you. You sprawled out onto the warm shingles, nothing but your underclothes covering you. You easily fell asleep.

You woke to the soft sounds of screaming in the house. Your heart raced as you took it upon instinct to think that you were about to be beaten.  Once you calmed down and realized they were screaming because they thought you were gone, you smirked.
“How did she disappear?!” you heard your mother scream.
“How am I supposed to know, you fat bitch?!” your father screamed.
You heard your brother scream and a loud thump on the wall. Your smile grew wider. You heard your brother scream louder as the sounds of pain became more frequent. You heard your brother collapse and your father grab your mother, slamming her into the wall. She screamed as you assumed she was being raped.
You smirked through hours of this, and silently laughed as you heard your dad cry. He killed them. You knew he did. After many more hours, you didn’t hear anything. After it started to get dark, you heard the garage door open. A ladder dragging across the ground. Your heart started racing as you panicked. Out of the corner of your eyes, you saw a few figures move out of the bushes. The ladder hit the roof and it jiggled as your father climbed it.
“I KNOW YOU ARE UP THERE!” He screamed at the top of his lungs. You stood and backed up to the chimney, quickly climbing it with your bag. You barely got onto the top of it before your father hit it. You started crying as he scaled up the side of it. Suddenly the three figures were on the roof with him and surrounding him. He screamed obscenities as he tried to fight them, but to your joy, he lost miserably. You clung to the chimney as his body was thrown off the roof. The three figures turned to you, each one looking at each other. You were frozen, unable to move.
“You can come down now.” Two of them said together, the last one simply nodded. They all held out their arms like they were to catch you. You let your body relax and you slowly let one foot off the chimney. It met a hand and you sighed, letting the other down too. They lowered you easily and helped you stand. The pain medication and numbing cream was beginning to wear off and every movement hurt. You turned around and got a better look at them. One had a blue mask and a black hoodie, one had a white mask, brown hair, and a tan jacket, and the last had a black mask and yellow hoodie. You shied away as you realized how much taller they were than you. The fact that you had been starved most of your life stunted your growth, you being around 4’9, and made you beyond skinny. The men all stepped back to give you room, as you were shaking at this point, and held out their hands.
“I’m Masky,” the one with the white mask said. You shakily reached your hand out and shook his. “I’m Hoodie,” the next said softly. You shook his hand also, slowly getting used to them. “This is Eyeless Jack, he is mute like you.” The second one said for the third. You smiled a little and shook his hand. “Will you be coming with us or staying here?” the first two masked ones said together. You nodded a little and nodded over to your bag. You were too weak and in too much pain to pick it up. They nodded and lifted your bag. You opened your mouth to say something and they stopped. You mouthed “Open” and they opened the bag, you shakily reached in and pulled out the stuffed rabbit, holding it close. They all looked to each other and nodded. Hoodie lifted you up and carried you down the ladder and off the roof, the other two following behind. Masky and Hoodie said together “It is a long run, we suggest you sleep while you can. You nodded a little and curled up to Hoodie’s chest, using the rabbit as both a pillow and blanket as you drifted to sleep.
Two chapters in one day, I hope this makes up for my slight inactivity. This is the second chapter, and I know it isn't all that silly yet, but it will get there. Give it another chapter or two.
